The Airstream Project
At Pure Cruise, we offer a genuine, personal cruising experience aboard our one-of-a-kind vessel, ‘The Airstream Project’. Explore the stunning native bays and coves of Lake Rotoiti in style, while enjoying breathtaking scenery, geothermal hot pools, and warm sand beaches. For the adventurous, you can swim from private beaches, swim into glow worm caves, or even leap from overhanging trees into the lake during the summer months.
Our exclusive charters are perfect for up to 18 guests, with every experience tailored to your group’s needs and delivered with friendly, local hospitality.
The Airstream Project is a totally unique, hand-built 9.2-meter pontoon vessel, designed by Matt and the team. Drawing inspiration from classic 1960s Airstream trailers, WWII aircraft, and Italian speed boats, this electric-driven vessel is as much a work of art as it is a boat.
The exterior is crafted from polished aluminum panels, joined together with thousands of solid rivets. The side windows are made from curved acrylic that slides up into the roof, and the exposed internal frames give the boat a sleek, stripped-back aircraft feel.
To make the experience even more special, the sides of the vessel fold out, allowing the lounges to pivot over the water so you can get even closer to the native bush, caves, and thermal waters of the lake.
Our Rates
Our minimum charter length is three hours, priced at $1,300 inclusive GST. Each additional hour is $400 inclusive GST.
This price covers boat hire for up to 18 guests, as well as a skipper/guide for your charter.
Catering can be arranged in advance, or you're welcome to bring along light food to enjoy during your time on the water.
If your group exceeds 20 guests, please get in touch. We have options to accommodate larger numbers and are happy to answer any questions. Our larger vessel, Rotoiti Explorer, is available for bigger groups.
Location
The vessel meets guests at Okawa Bay, Mourea, located 20 minutes north of Rotorua, unless other arrangements are made in advance.
We can also arrange pick-up and drop-off services from Rotorua city and other nearby centres upon request, and we work with a great network of quality operators to ensure a smooth experience.
What do I bring?
Please bring clothing suitable for the weather conditions, a warm jacket, soft-soled footwear, swim gear, a towel, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
