The Airstream Project
Matt and the team have designed and hand built a totally unique 9.2-meter pontoon vessel with electric drive - the shape, form and finish draws it’s inspiration from classic 1960’s Airstream trailers, second world war aircraft and Italian speed boats!
The exterior is polished aluminum hand crafted panels, with a few thousand solid rivets joining the framing and panels. The side windows are curved acrylic and slide up into the roof while the internal frames are left exposed giving a stripped back aircraft look and feel inside.
The sides fold out and allow the couches to pivot out over the water so our guests can get so much closer to the native bush, caves and thermal waters of the lake.
Our Rates
Our minimum charter length is three hours and retails for $1200. Each additional hour is $400
The price covers boat hire for up to 20 guests and a skipper/guide for your charter.
We can supply catering by pre arrangement, or alternatively you are welcome to bring along some light food to complement your time on the water.
If your numbers exceed 20 guests please get in touch, as we do have further options to accommodate for higher numbers and are always happy to answer any questions. Our larger vessel - Rotoiti Explorer can host larger groups.
Location
The vessel usually meets guests at the Marina of the VR Rotorua Lake Resort Marina, 366 State Highway 33, Mourea, 20 minutes north of Rotorua. We can pick up private groups from a variety of local jetties and private homes on Lake Rotoiti often at no extra cost.
What do I bring?
Please bring clothing suitable for the forecasted weather conditions, warm jacket, soft-soled footwear, swimming gear, towel, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
Lake Rotoiti holds an abundance of amazing spots that compliment every activity and weather condition. We can accomodate from the most adventurous to the most relaxed of itineraries, and anywhere in between.
